    Mark Simpson

    Managing Director & Founder

    Mark has overall management of the organisation and also has particular responsibility for expanding  the company's operations in Africa and Asia. His early background as a Research Scientist has been instrumental in setting up the foundations of  co2balance's environmental business.

  • Suzanne Longworth

    Projects Director

    Suzanne began her career in IT working in the UK and USA. Suzanne has successfully founded a number of organisations, and has enjoyed the challenge of business development. More recently, as Projects Director, Suzanne spends her time ensuring the delivery of the co2balance carbon offset projects across Africa and Asia.

    Financial Director

    Huw has a long career in business having acted as Finance Director for a number of large companies.  He is a Chartered Accountant with responsibility at co2balance for all finance.

  • Steve Hewson

    Director Of Sales And Marketing

    Steve has responsibility for sales and marketing, ensuring customers maximise the investment they make with us.  From an initial career in Horticulture Steve has been successful in business with a range of blue chip organisations, previous to joining co2balance he was Marketing Director for Toshiba TEC UK.  

  • Paul Chiplen

    Sales & Marketing Manager

    Paul heads the Sales and Marketing team for co2balance. A BA (Hons) graduate in Geography, Paul has a long standing interest in environmental matters, having worked in waste and recycling in the public sector for many years, project managing several major waste promotional campaigns, designed to raise awareness of reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

    Paul supports clients in managing their carbon emissions, working with them to maximise the marketing and communication opportunities for organisations that become CarbonZero.

  • Laure Geron

    Global Programme Manager

    Laure is responsible for our 'in-country' implementation globally including the implementation of reporting systems for monitoring and evaluations of the projects as well as community entry processes. Laure is an expert in Project Evaluations and Project Management in Least Developed Countries, particularly in Africa. In addition Laure has an extensive network of business, government and NGO contacts and is especially skilled in bringing together relevant stakeholders in support of our projects. Laure has over 5 years of management work experience in the Corporate Social Responsibility industry - MSc Corporate Environmental Management.

  • Matt Thomas

    Regional Coordinator - Carbon Projects

    Matt graduated with a BSc in Geography & Sociology from the University of Wales Swansea. Following his time in university Matt moved to Spain for a year before returning to the UK to work for the Environment Agency. More recently Matt has completed an MSc in Environment Assessment & Management at Oxford Brookes University and is an Associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (AIEMA). After working in carbon auditing & energy management Matt joined CO2Balance as a Carbon Projects Officer and gained experience in managing Gold Standard and CDM projects in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. Matt is now responsible for project development and implementation of all voluntary and compulsory carbon offsetting projects under Gold Standard and CDM methodologies throughout East Africa.

  • Richard Iliffe

    Regional Co-ordinator - Carbon Projects

    Richard's first degree was in Zoology from the University of Liverpool. Following graduation, Richard spent some years travelling and working in Asia before returning to complete an MSc. in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies at the Centre for Alternative Technology. His research thesis attempted to tie in knowledge of ecosystems and an interest in appropriate technology by examining the biochar produced by a clean burning stove and its potential applications in developing countries. This lead to a role developing kiln technology, a VCS methodology for biochar and, subsequently, carbon offset projects in Belize.

    Richard is responsible for co-ordinating co2balance Gold Standard and CDM projects in West Africa, South East Africa and South Asia.
