Our partners in Mozambique Village Water and WATSAN have recently celebrated reaching their 500,000th person with water, sanitation and hygiene facilities through their interventions. This landmarks represents half a million people living with safe water, toilets and good information on good hygiene practices. We were delighted to hear our Safe Water project within the eastern districts of the country helped reach their target!
Their goal was to not only make repairs, but ‘make water systems long term, to build independent, environmentally-friendly communities with the means of maintaining and funding their own water supply in the future’.
This involves on training villagers in pump maintenance and good practice hygiene and sanitation.
