Hi everyone, I’m Thomas and I am one of the new Carbon Projects Officers joining CO2balance in Taunton. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and to start my career in international development and carbon offset project management.
I recently graduated from Loughborough University, where I studied Geography with Economics. I have a keen interest in environmental change and international development which originate from two sources.
I have been lucky enough to have grown up in the Lake District National Park, regularly hiking in some of Britain’s best scenery. It was here that my interest in the environment and the natural world began and one which I cultivated throughout school and university.
I also have my family to thank for my interest in international development with different family members providing inspiration to me through their work across the globe. It was this inspiration which led me to complete a placement year, during my time at Loughborough, at the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Washington DC. During my time there I worked on various projects regarding Forest Landscape Restoration in developing countries within their Global Forests and Climate Change Programme.
Outside of work I enjoy sport and fitness playing football, tennis and squash, as well as enjoying hiking and the countryside. In addition, I am a keen pianist having achieved Grade 7.
I am excited to begin working on carbon offsetting projects which positively impact the lives of people in rural communities as well as contributing to the fight against the climate crisis.
