Hello, I’m Katri, one of the new recruits to the CO2Balance projects team, joining as a Carbon Project Officer. I am excited to be part of this lovely team working on carbon development projects.
I am passionate about sustainability, this has directed my interests, studies and career to date. My background is varied with profession experience within the third sector working on waste reduction projects, sustainable behaviour change and in fundraising. I have an MSc in Sustainable Development in Practice from UWE where I completed a project looking at mapping non-financial capital of a sustainability cooperative and worked on a strategy with local politicians to reduce coffee cup waste in Scotland. I also have a BEng in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering from Warwick, where I studied energy technologies and technology for international development.

As a teenager I undertook an international volunteering project in Peru and have more recently volunteered in Calais at the Help Refugee’s Warehouse/Community Kitchen. I enjoy being an active member of my community, so I volunteer with GirlGuiding helping run a local Rangers Unit – I hope I can continue doing this in Taunton. I like getting involved in environmental campaigns and events, ranging from running workshops on plastic waste at local climate festivals to coordinating an international online Ceilidh this year to celebrate COP26.
Outside of work and volunteering I am usually walking in the hills or forest with my dog – Dipity, foraging for mushrooms and hedgerow plants, trying out a new craft project, or hiding out in a coffee shop reading a book.
