Hello there! My name is Menelisi, and I’m excited to join CO2 Balance as a Carbon Projects Officer-Nature-based Solutions. I hold a PhD in Environmental Science from Rhodes University in South Africa, with a focus on Resilience, Sustainability, and Environmental Governance.

Before joining CO2 Balance, I worked as an Environmental Governance Hub Leader on a UNDP-GEF5-funded project. I helped develop Nature-based Solution governance processes for securing multiple ecosystem benefits through Sustainable Land Management (SLM) in the productive but degraded landscapes of South Africa.

Later on, I worked as a Junior Consultant at C4 EcoSolutions, a consulting company that designs and implements climate change adaptation and mitigation projects in both the public and private sectors. In that role, I specialized in designing and developing climate change adaptation and mitigation projects for global institutions such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Global Environmental Facility (GEF), and the Adaptation Fund (AF). I also played a project lead role in co-designing adaptation project activities in Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Malawi, and Djibouti.

In my free time, I volunteer to promote the communication of the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) scientific research activities and engage in community activities, such as taking pictures of natural landscapes.

I consider myself as an optimist, and I’m thrilled to join CO2 Balance in contributing to the noble cause of making our planet a better place. I look forward to working with the team to achieve net zero in our generation and create a sustainable future for all.
