Hello everybody! I’m Lorenzo, and I am excited to join CO2balance as a Carbon Project Officer contributing to projects in Burkina Faso, Togo and Guatemala. Just like the company, I am currently completing a relocation to Bristol, where I am going to be based for the foreseeable future.

I used to live here many moons ago, when I was completing my undergraduate degree in Sociology at the University of Bristol. I then spent a few years teaching English abroad, before discovering a passion for regeneration, sustainability and climate work. This led me to a small town in Sweden, where I completed my MSc in “Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability” and applied systems thinking to various aspects of the sustainability challenge. In between saunas, ice baths and beautiful sunsets on the Baltic Sea, I learned about energy systems, carbon markets and nature-based solutions, and carried out consultancy work with local businesses to render their operations more sustainable.

Upon graduation, I started working for an international development NGO in Peru. I was part of a circular economy project, supporting a network of large textile industries, upcycling start-ups, innovators and waste-picker cooperatives to reduce the environmental impact of the fast fashion sector in the country. While in Peru I fell in love with surfing and salsa dancing, and I discovered the wonderful world of potatoes: fun fact, there are over 4000 varieties of potatoes in the country!

In my free time I enjoy playing music and cooking, as well as weekend outdoor adventures to either climb a mountain or surf some waves. I am really excited about working with CO2balance and contributing to their impactful projects around the world.
