Last week four of us from CO2balance took part in Frank Water’s annual Stand Up for Safe Water event at Bristol Harbourside. The Bristol-based charity has been hosting the event with SUP Bristol for 5 years. This year we were one of many local businesses taking part in fundraising for Frank’s Safe Water projects in India, Nepal, and Kenya.

So much fun!! Massive thank you to the staff for organising such an enjoyable event despite the windy weather! Especially loved hearing insights into Frank Water’s invaluable work throughout the day!

David W, CO2balance Carbon Project Officer.

Frank Water’s mission is to alleviate global water poverty, enhance health, and protect the natural environment by improving the way that people understand and use water, with a focus on those most in need. As a leading carbon project developer, with projects including delivering safe water across Sub-Saharan Africa, CO2balance’s goals to tackle climate change and advance the Sustainable Development Goals are closely aligned to Frank Water’s, and it was an easy decision to get involved.

We spent a rather windy day competing in races against other supporters of Frank Water, including ARUP and Pieminister. We raced giant SUP paddleboards and KataKanus up and down the harbour, battling the wind and competing against other teams. However, only one could be victorious! Three out of four of our team had never paddle-boarded before but we picked it up quickly and against all odds walked away with the top prize of the day, 4 tickets to Planet Earth III in Concert!

Best day ever! Massive Thank you to the frank water staff for allowing us to contribute to an important cause in such a fun, informative and rewarding manner.

Lorenzo G, CO2balance Carbon Project Officer.

Frank Water’s Head of Programmes, John Shepherd, was there on the day sharing some inspiring stories of success, as well as the innovative approach the charity uses to improve access to safe water – including using AI in monitoring impact.

The team having an oar-some time!

We’d like to say a big thank you to the rest of the CO2balance team who contributed to our fundraising bake sale the week before. Most of all we’d like to thank Frank Water for their incredible efforts to provide safe water. Thank you to all of your staff and volunteers who helped make the day so much fun.
