Our Safe Water Project in Nakasongola, Central Uganda have formally partnered with Rhino Fund Uganda , an NGO located in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located in the district.

Formed as an NGO in 1997, their vision is to repopulate Uganda with wild rhinos, through the application of sound conservation principles, involving and educating surrounding local communities. Uganda used to have a healthy population of both black and northern white rhinos, which were declared extinct by 1983 due to civil war, urbanisation and poaching. The Rhino re-introduction project is a project of Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority.

CO2balance are working with our in-country team to rehabilitate boreholes across Nakasongola, working with communities to supply safe water and conduct WASH trainings. The resulting carbon credits from our Nakasongola Northern Uganda Safe Water Project will directly contribute to the good work on the Sanctuary.
